Using OctaveSync

By creating an account or buying credits you accept these terms. You must keep your sign-in credentials, authenticator device and recovery key secure; actions taken through your account are treated as yours. We may suspend accounts, IP addresses or networks that abuse the platform.

Credits

Credits are purchased at £1 per credit through Stripe and are deducted when you licence a track. Credits are a prepayment for licences on this platform: they are not transferable between accounts and, except where the law requires otherwise, are not redeemable for cash. Prices of individual tracks are set by their authors in credits.

Audio licence for buyers

Buying a track grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use the downloaded recording in personal and commercial projects within the scope of the licence tier you purchased. The listed price buys the Standard — Presentation licence (internal presentations, personal projects, portfolios and non-commercial use). Wider uses — web and social publishing, podcasts and online video, games and applications, paid advertising, radio and broadcast, and television or film — require the corresponding extended licence tier, priced at a multiple of the listed price and shown on the track page before purchase. Synchronising a recording with moving image, broadcasting it, or using it in any way beyond the scope of the licence held is a breach of these terms and of the author's copyright.

You may not claim authorship of a licensed recording or register it (or any work containing it) with a content-identification or rights-management system such as those operated by video and streaming platforms, as doing so asserts rights over other licensees' use of the same track. Preview clips are for auditioning only and may not be used, extracted or published anywhere; the shortened preview, the reduced preview quality and the track's permanent audio ID all exist to protect authors' copyright.

Prohibited redistribution and resale

For the avoidance of doubt, the licence granted above is a licence to use a recording, not to trade in it. Except with the prior written consent of OctaveSync and the track's author, you shall not, directly or indirectly:

  • upload, submit, list or otherwise make available any recording obtained from OctaveSync — in its original form, as a stem, sample, remix or other derivative — to any other stock audio library, music marketplace, sample pack, distribution service or streaming platform, whether free or paid;
  • resell, license, sub-license, rent, lend or transfer any recording, whether singly, as part of a group, bundle, collection or package, or embedded in a product (such as a template, theme or asset pack) whose principal value lies in the audio itself;
  • share, pool or syndicate your downloads so as to allow any third party to use a recording without holding their own licence from OctaveSync.

Any breach of this clause terminates your licence to the affected recordings with immediate effect, may result in suspension or closure of your account, and may expose you to claims for copyright infringement by the author and by OctaveSync.

Authors and content

By uploading you confirm you created the work or hold full rights to it — including all performer, sample, interpolation and publishing clearances — and you grant OctaveSync the right to display, analyse, transcode and publish shortened previews of it for sale. You keep your copyright. You earn 70% of each sale of your tracks; the remaining 30% funds the platform's operation. Earnings are paid monthly to the Stripe account you link — we never hold your bank details.

Every upload is reviewed before it is published. You must not submit content that: contains uncleared samples of, or infringes, another party's copyright, trademark or performers' rights; reproduces commercial music you do not own; captures identifiable people without their consent; is unlawful, hateful, defamatory or invades a person's privacy; is sexually explicit; glorifies violence or self-harm; or is misrepresented as something it is not. We may decline or remove any submission at our discretion, and repeated violations end the account.

Copyright complaints

If you believe a recording on OctaveSync infringes your rights, contact us with its permanent audio ID and evidence of ownership; we investigate promptly and remove infringing material.

Service and liability

We aim for continuous availability but the service is provided "as is"; we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the site, and continued use after a change means acceptance. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
